Timeless Memories

The most important question: How much will my wedding photography cost?
The cost of your wedding photography is determined by the level of coverage and package you choose. To view the options available to you, see the packages 2008.

How many photographs do you take?
I commit to 300 images but you will most definitely end up with a lot more because the quantity of images taken is influenced by several factors, such as the amount of detail, number guests, locations used throughout the day and the length of time between the ceremony and the wedding.

Do you take any formal wedding photographs?
Yes, Your album will become an important archive of images of your loved ones for future generations and no album would be complete without a small number of family group photographs.

Do you digitally manipulate your images?
Sometimes a pic can be improved, by adding a effect or different tone to the image which helps to create a special mood this is done because I strive to deliver a creative product which is an absolute work of art!

When can we see our wedding photographs and who designs and assembles our album ?

Maternity photography

Miracle Memories...The art of a life being formed

Why have maternity photographs taken?
Pregnancy is a stage in your life you will want to remember and there is no better way to remember the first nine months of being a mother than looking at fine art maternity photographs.

If you are going to be photographed with an oversized belly, you might as well look beautiful whilst creating elegant keepsakes that you will be treasuring long after the belly has disappeared .

When is the best time to schedule a Maternity Session?
Maternity sessions are best held when you are 32 weeks pregnant.  Schedule when it's convenient and you like your shape and most important- if you're feeling great!

What to wear to my shoot?
Wear anything you feel comfortable in and LOVE. Avoid patterns and stripes unless you love them and it is a must. Also have some of the things you love nearby for example: your favorite flowers, your favorite baby item, like a cute pair of booties, your sonar photographs…anything you love!! There is no limit placed on outfit changes, for these sessions however I would suggest having three or four options ready, if not more.

What should my husband wear?
Men should bring jeans or khaki pants or any other dark bottoms. I encourage plain white shirts or no shirts at all.

How should I prepare for my shoot?
1.         Get a manicure and a pedicure a day or two in advance
2.         Plan makeup: you'll get the best photos if you do your own makeup or visit a makeup center prior to your shoot.
3.         Don't wear anything binding to the shoot - you don't want marks on your skin.

Where is the shoot held and why should I invest in these photography sessions?
Your maternity shoot is conveniently held in the comfort of your own home or at a location that is special to you. When possible I prefer to use natural light because it produces the most accurate color and detail and it gives a beautiful relaxed result and if you are relaxed and at home the photographs tell the story. We also have the advantage of taking some photographs of you in the nursery or on your rocking chair. I believe that these photos will be unique and custom made to fit your personality.
Why invest in custom photography? It is a luxury.  Unlike chain studios, custom photography affords you the complete luxury of customizing your session to fit your family's needs.  Working with a custom photographer means that you are working with someone who is invested in taking the time to ensure you get the very best from your portrait experience.
Clients who opt for custom portraiture are clients who appreciate and value high-end custom work, and who have a strong desire to celebrate their families in the form of "art" on their walls, in albums, as gifts to family and friends, as unique and timeless design elements for home décor.

Newborn photography

Pinkfoot memories

Why newborns?
What's not to love about a brand new baby? Every single new baby coming into the world is a miracle. A life-changing event  which changes your life forever.  It is my greatest privilege to capture your baby's first few days of life and to capture what will soon be a distant memory.

What makes a newborn different than a month old baby? The tinyness, the wrinkly skin when they curl up and those wonderful reflective eyes looking at the world for the very first time.  These magical, sweet little things get lost in the sleepless nights and blur of caring for a newborn and the night rocking sometimes for hours on end!

The capturing of newborns lies in the little things that help you remember why you fell in love in the first place. To have images during those first days, those first weeks is incredible. Before you know it, several months, years, or decades from now, it will be impossible to imagine that your child were once so tiny and new…

Why is it best to photograph your baby within the  first 2 weeks?
1. in the first 2 weeks they are still very sleepy which helps during the photography session,
2. they are also very small and still curl up very easily which makes for some wonderful photos
3.You may want some nice photos of your baby before he or she is 1 month old at which time baby acne and hair loss quite commonly occurs.

When is the best time to book a newborn session?
The simple answer is "the earlier the better".  You should book as soon as possible, preferably while you are pregnant to ensure that can fit you in.

How long does the sessions take and where is it taken?
Sessions are taken in the comfort of your own home and generally can last 2-3 hours to allow for feedings and changing.  Newborn sessions have been known to go on a little longer than normal shoots.  This allows us to capture some beautiful images.

What is the best time of day to schedule a session?
I always schedule sessions between 9.30-10.00am.  This time of day provides the most flattering light for portraits.  The sun is far too harsh from midday to afternoon and produces hard shadows and natural light produces the most accurate color and detail.

What if my child is sick on the day of the session?
In the event of illness, I would recommend that you call and reschedule the session.  Trying to have children "soldier on" will only result in disappointment, as your finished images will likely not be the "child you know".  The camera doesn't lie.  I would much prefer to reschedule a session if it means getting you images that you can truly be proud of.

What should my baby be wearing?
Think simple and classic. You probably wouldn’t want your baby photographed in a dark color--it is too severe for them. Their own skin are your best bet. Stretchy hats that fit your baby are great. Also wonderful to photograph with Baby are any blankets or quilts that have specially been made for them. Texture is wonderful in black and white; pattern is not good. Polka dots and small bunnies hopping all over the outfit are what we want to avoid.

What should me and my husband be wearing?
You may choose to be in as many or as few of the pictures as you wish. At the very least, you will be a backdrop for some of the pictures, so please wear a solid color and sleeves. Your hands will be in the pictures-- French manicures look best and dark red lipstick doesn't photograph well in black and white.

If you are trying to choose between light or dark, try to decide what look you would prefer. Wearing black will create dramatic portraits. Wearing white will create an elegant, classic look.

Mom may also wish to bring a boob tube top if she would like a bare shoulder/baby look. Please, no shirt and tie for Dad--too formal for these photographs.

Miscellaneous advice
It may not be a good idea to give your baby a bath the day of pictures. It can make them upset, and make their skin more flaky. Upsetting them may make a rash show up more. It is best to have a nice quiet day the day before and the day of your pictures.

75% of the babies eat sometime during their photo shoot but please feed them directly before the shoot…a baby with a full tummy is a happy baby.

Is it wise to include older siblings?
Yes, they make lovely pictures. They also can wear very simple clothing. If the big brother or sister is still a baby him or herself, matching their clothing is a great idea. Sometimes it is easy and natural to get older siblings into the pictures, and sometimes, no matter how encouraging we are, it is impossible… The sibling’s mood and willingness to co-operate will dictate the session. Having full tummies and being well rested will help to get the most out of your session.

Does the session fee include any digital files?  Are the negatives available?
Unlike most other photographers I include the digital files (digital negatives) with your package.

How do I schedule my session when I don't know when my baby will arrive?
We will tentatively schedule your session for your due date.  Obviously, this is just an estimate!  We ask that you phone me within a few days of having your baby, at which time we will confirm the date and time of your actual session.

How far in advance should I reserve my session?

It is best to reserve your newborn session while you are still pregnant to ensure having your session within those first 10 days.  Please reserve your session as soon as possible to ensure that we set aside time for your session.

Barefoot Memories

Where are these sessions held?

Most of my portrait sessions are done conveniently in the comfort of your home or at a location that is special to you. When possible I prefer to use natural light because it gives a beautiful relaxed result and it is a fact that natural light produces the most accurate color and detail. My style is very relaxed and easy going as I believe that children photograph best when they are free to explore and play. My ultimate goal is to create a fun, relaxed, non pressured environment for you and your family and you'll probably find me kicking off my shoes and getting down on the floor with the kids. I will spend time getting to know your children and will play with them throughout the session, encouraging them to be themselves. It is completely okay for kids to act silly or shy, the best sessions happen when parents relax and allow the children to be themselves.

How long does a session last?

In home sessions last approximately two hours though they may last a bit longer depending on what you would like to accomplish. I only schedule one session per day so that I can take my time with your session, snapping away freely, stopping for when we need to, making sure everyone stays happy. It is very important to me that you do not feel rushed. The more relaxed you are, the easier it is to get good pictures.

What is a typical in-home session like?

I like to start by looking at the space to see if there is anything that catches my eye. Everyone's home is different. Some people have many spaces that will photograph well, others may only have one or two and before the sessions starts we will also go over your wardrobe choices.

Is there a limit placed on poses or outfit changes?

NO, For babies and children, I only suggest a couple of changes, but this depends entirely on your child's mood, personality and temperament.

What to wear?

  • Jeans work really well as you can dress them up or down.
  • Bare feet always look perfect and babies look best in their own skin, or just wrapped in a blanket.  But please.......don't be afraid to have fun.
  • For a more modern look bring a few fresh and funky items too, to show personality for eg.  Tights, hats, jackets, gumboots, singlets, beanies, scarves all make for wonderful accessories.
  • If in doubt, bring several outfits and I will help you choose what will work best.  I love to incorporate personalities, so feel free to bring items that are special to you and your child.  If your child has a passion (instrument, ball, teddy, etc), let's use it.
  • This is an opportunity to dress your children to look as cute and beautiful as they can, or you are welcome to choose a simple casual look.  Some people like to take the opportunity to do both.
  • Try to avoid patterns/logos & stripes or bright colours - so your clothes don’t attract more attention than your faces and your photos don’t date over time.
  • White is okay if for an individual portrait but it can be very stark on a bright day so make it only one option.  It’s difficult if only one person is wearing it in a group as they will stand out more then anyone else. White is fine if all participants are in white with a combination of denim for example.
  • Hats, necklaces, ponchos and accessories can look fantastic in photos so please feel free to bring these along with you.
  • Please also bring a snack for children, drink and one or two of your children’s favourite toys.

How many final images will I see?

A two hour session will end up with 40-80 images to choose from. An hour session will have about half that.

How do I see my proofs?

Your proofs will be posted online in a private gallery. Because many of my clients are new parents, I leave these private galleries up for as long as you need to make a good choice.
